~ Prime Rib Saturdays~
It's back!!! Every Saturday enjoy our Niman Ranch Prime Rib ~ And meet our new, exceptional Executive Chef Cullen Newhoff!
Wine Notes.................
Because we are located in Davis, we are in close proximity to the Napa Valley, Central Coast, and the Sierra Foothills. With their abundance of wineries, we are fortunate to have access to several world-class wines. Many of the wines we chose to carry on our wine list are marked with asteriks to denote either local wineries or whose winemakers are UC Davis Alumni. We will be featuring a different winery each month and, in spotlighting its wines, we will try to show their range, quality and creativity. Cheers!
~ Featured Wine Special ~ For the Month of February
Peloton Cellars was created by four long-time friends in 2004. They set out on a mission to create wines with both the same intensity, and the same integrity, as they had achieved with the pastime that had brought them together in the first place. That common denominator was the sport of bicycling. To extend their passion for races to a passion for grapes meant a lot of ingenuity and even more hard work. ‘Peloton,‘ after-all, literally means “group” in French. The definition, fittingly, refers to both grape clusters and bicycle pacts alike. Today, all of Peloton’s wines are crafted from the fruit of the lush, and fertile, soil of the Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande regions of California‘s renowned central coast. From their elegant and softly complex Cabernet, to their crisp and refreshing Sauvignon Blanc, the collaborative friendship that is Peloton Cellars has not just succeeded in that original mission but has far surpassed it. For their commitment to great wines, their demonstration of great friendships, and their love of all-things bicycles, nothing defines Davis more than Peloton Cellars. Thus, in highlighting this month’s AMGEN race, they are our selection for February’s wine feature.
Sauvignon Blanc, Paso Robles 2007 The aroma combines tropical characters of kiwi, grapefruit, pineapple and orange zest. The palate is crisp with Meyer lemon, melon and herbal notes. The finish is well balanced yet crisp and clean. 6.50/25
Syrah, Laetitia Vineyard, Arroyo Grande 2006 The aroma is an elegant mixture of boysenberry pie, spicy rose and cedar. The palate is silky with layers of pepper, spice and mocha. The finish is long and rich. 7.75/30
Cabernet Sauvignon, Diamond Jem Vineyard, Paso Robles 2004 The aroma is ripe with raspberry, bing cherry and an assortment of spice and leather. The palate is soft and fruit forward with a touch of vanilla and a velvety mouth feel. The finish is soft with hints of caramel, cedar and oak. 11.25/44
